Request for Your Healing Energy During My Surgery Today

I’m going to cut to the chase, because I am writing this with my left hand only. Well, Siri is helping too.

I had an accident on June 27. I fell and broke my hand and finger. I’m having surgery Thursday afternoon, July 13. There are multiple fractures in my ring finger of my right hand. While it’s a complex surgery, I am very confident in my hand surgeon, and have the utmost confidence in a full recovery. Obviously, my deepest desire is to regain my ability to play the piano at the level I have always been capable. My heart and soul wants nothing less. Continue reading

7 Simple Tips for Calming Your Dog During Fireworks

BWP_Gina_Flag_Lisa_Piano_PhotoCredit

July 4th is quickly approaching. It can be a fun holiday for children and adults, but most dogs don’t share their enthusiasm. In fact, almost all people with dogs in the U.S. declare this day the worst day of the year for their dogs. Veterinarians say July 3rd is usually the most trafficked day in their offices, with clients coming in to get drugs for their dogs. July 5th tends to be the busiest day of the year for shelters. Dogs become Houdini when they hear fireworks and escape from their yards that appear perfectly secure other days of the year. Continue reading

In Memory of Sanchez, My Muse and Our Mascot

Sanchez entered my home and my heart at 4-months-old. He was a puppy in training from Guide Dogs for the Blind, and I was a volunteer puppy raiser. He came pretty close to passing all the guide dog phases. But, when he didn’t, I was happy to adopt him. I promised him the best life a dog could have, and that he had. What I didn’t know then was what a great life he was going to give me, and many others. He was to be of great service, but not in the way that was planned by his guide dog breeding and training. Continue reading

iCalmDog 3.0 Winner(s) Announced AND A Gift For All

A month ago, I published a blog post titled Win an iCalmDog… It Stopped Border Collie’s Barking in 20 Seconds Flat! The post included a video I had taken at Cynosport World Agility Games. The barking Border Collie, Nim, quiets in 20 seconds flat after I brought over an iCalmDog 3.0, the portable solution to canine anxiety. I left it playing in front of his crating area.

As Beth Talmage said in a youtube comment, “That video tells the story better than any commentary could!” Continue reading

Win an iCalmDog… It Stopped Border Collie’s Barking in 20 Seconds Flat!

ginafollowsthegoldenroula

The barking Border Collie in our crating area at Cynosport World Agility Games was driving me (and everyone around me) crazy. So, I asked the BC’s handler if I could bring over my iCalmDog 3.0 to see if the clinically tested music reduced his barking. I have to admit, Nim’s barking was so intense that I wasn’t even sure it would work, but watch what happened in 20 seconds flat… Continue reading

Playing Piano for Gina on her 5-Year ‘Gotcha Day’

BWP_GinaLisaPianoPC

Five years ago today, I adopted Gina. It’s hard to believe that I once thought she was the dog I never wanted. But, a wise soul once said, “you don’t get the dogs you want, you get the dogs you need.”

I remain forever grateful for this 44 pound package of pure joy and happiness that entered my life at the perfect time. She reminds me every day to just get out and play, and that is reason enough to be happy. Continue reading

My Most Emotional Moment of 2013

iCalmDog with Gina at ER

Sanchez is 10 years old and went through some scary times in 2012 due to a slipped disc in his neck. I’m familiar with feelings of worrying about a dog in their double digits. Worrying about my young Lab, however, was completely foreign to me, until June of 2013. Continue reading

What Dogs Teach Us About Time

timefordogsclock

I went on a mini-retreat recently with my luv. It’s pretty rare that I go on vacation without my dogs. My original plan was to leave only Sanchez with a dog sitter. There are a gazillion steps to get to the beach from the cabin, and while Sanchez has recovered well from a slipped disc in his neck, a multitude of steep steps would surely cause a re-injury.

I was looking forward to Continue reading
